Then had to update each emulator (just FX3 and VP in my case). So I opted to reassign my flippers to the L/R arrow keys all the time. But I didn't like the idea of setting up yet another script on my cabinet. I liked the idea of the AutoHotKey solution because it preserved the functionality of the dialog and would be intuitive to new users. It also means you can't continue your game. That would be confusing, especially to friends who are new to using my cabinet. So that means the dialog would come up and you'd have to watch it for a couple seconds before it started a new game. I wasn't crazy about the Nailbuster solution because you have to guess how many seconds to wait for the keystrokes to fire. Restarting games: Nailbuster has a solution to this that fires off some key commands to always select "new game." There's another solution that uses an "AutoHotKey" script to temporarily switch your flipper buttons from shift to arrow keys. There are a few other little things, but I think these are the ones that are having the most effect on my FX3 playing experience.

Can you point me in the right direction for where to start learning how to do that? Is it part of DOFLinx or something else? I'm not quite ready to go there yet, but when I am, is it possible to get FX3 to recognize analog inputs for a plunger and an acclerometer for nudging? I'm running a Pinscape board to handle both in VPX. Is there a step I'm missing for playing offline?

It's pretty easy to put STEAM in offline mode, but when I do, I get a dialogue pop up when PinballY tries to open FX3 asking me if I want to go online. Is there some way to navigate those dialogues with just those buttons? Or is there a way to turn that feature off in FX3? In addition to the standard flippers, magnasaves, and launch buttons, all I've got are a coin, start, and exit buttons. I can't figure out how to navigate that dialogue box without a mouse or how to disable it. The next time I open that table, I get a dialogue box asking me if I want to continue my game or start a new one. I might get bored, someone walks in, or maybe I'm just testing some setting out. Half the time, I start a game and bail out. Is there any way to set a specific camera mode as the default? I have a button mapped to change the camera position, but that means each time a table opens I have to push that button 3 or 4 or 5 times to get in the "let's just look down at the table like a normal person" mode. So the basics are done.īut I'm struggling with a couple things that seem minor, but are having a significant impact on playing FX3 tables.Įvery time a table opens, the camera seems to be in that "fly around and follow the ball and try to make the player motion sick" mode. I've got FX3 setup in cabinet mode, my backglass and DMD both look great, and I can launch tables through PinballY. Now, all those Star Wars, Marvel, and Jurrasic Park tables in FX3 are really calling to me.

I've been running Visual Pinball X in my cab with PinballY as a front end for a month or two.
